We were very quick out of the blocks, with Ben Rafferty firing us ahead after just 4 minutes.

I felt we settled into the game early as we had control of the ball.

Northampton equalised with a very good finish from their No. 9, who was a real handful and a player of quality.

We hit back with a second and should have scored a third by half-time after a breakaway, which we just put wide.

We got the third goal quickly in the second half after a few minutes of Northampton pressure, through George Harrison, who did very well on his second start for the club, registering again on the score sheet.

Callum Orange had a welcome return after a long absence due to holiday and illness, which was valuable for us, and having him back boosted our attacks.

With Max Taylor unavailable for another week and Kyle Stovell, who has been playing with an injury for the last two games, combined, both of them have formed an effective partnership.

With availability improving, those selections will soon come in large numbers, and I am really pleased the squad showed its capability. Their fighting spirit and quality in possession and out of possession, as a group, laid down a marker with this performance against a strong Step 5 opponent. We can take confidence from this performance heading into the upcoming games this calendar month.
